New Mexico Inspired Music
Richard Hannemann grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico and went to college in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
New Mexico is called "The Land of Enchantement" and the photos on this page show why. Mr. Hannemann's playground was the mountains, mesas, canyons, rivers, and streams of the Jemez Mountains and the Pajarito Plateau.
New Mexico is a land rich in history and mystery and the area of north central New Mexico -- bounded on the north by Taos, to the south by Santa Fe, to the east by the Sangre de Christo range of the Rocky Mountains, to the west by the Jemez mountains (the remains of a great volcano), and sliced through north to south by the Rio Grande is no exception. This is the land of the northern Apache and the Pueblo indians; this is the land of the conquistadores; it is the land of Kit Carson and the mountain men; it is the land of caballero and cowboy; it is a land of pioneers of all cultures. Even today it is a land that is neither fully tamed nor domesticated.
This is a land that has inspired artists, writers, and musicians with its power, beauty, history, and mystique. The music on this page is born of that inspiration.
